Thereâs a hen-hunting fox on the loose. But farmer Pettson and his quirky cat Findus agree that foxes shouldnât be killed. They should be tricked. They come up with a fabulous plan which makes for an explosive, unforgettable night.
Farmer Pettson lives on a farm with his cat Findus. One day, their neighbour Gustavsson arrived with his dog and a shotgun. His face was grim. âHello Pettson,â he said. âHave you had a visit from the fox?â
âNo, not that Iâve noticed,â said Pettson.
âI think youâd have noticed if you had,â Gustavsson growled. âHe stole one of my hens last night but he wonât be doing it again. Next time I see him, Iâll shoot him. He might come here tonight, when he finds my hens are locked away.â And off he went.
âFindus, that means we should lock our hens up now!â muttered Pettson.
âFoxes shouldnât be shot,â said Findus. âThey should be tricked.â
Pettson chuckled. âI agree, Findus. Itâs a shame to shoot foxes. Weâll work out how to frighten it off, so it wonât want to eat a hen ever again.â
âI liked Findus and the Fox a lot. My favourite part was when everything was colourful and when Gustavsson was scared from Findus pretending to be a ghost Ooooooo! And everything went BANG, BING, KAPOW! I liked the bit when Pettson made a fake chicken out of a pepper balloon and glued feathers on it. All of the Findus and Pettson books are really good.â â Remy, aged seven.
âThey have been in our book corner for one day and already I can see they will have an incredibly long shelf life â each one has been devoured several times already and the class were unanimous in their choice for story time at the end of the day. These books are irresistable for both adults and children â I canât recommend them highly enough.â âThe Book Corner
